This pair of antique champlevé buttons features a Renaissance-style man’s head with curly black hair and a slight smile. He wears a conical hat with intricate brass embellishments and a blue tunic, also adorned with brass embellishments. The buttons have a striking cut steel accent border with leaf flourishes, showcasing the fine, handmade craftsmanship. These buttons are book pieces, being the same type shown in The Big Book of Buttons by Elizabeth Hughes and Marion Lester (Plate 227, #5, page 728). This pair of antique champlevé buttons is a unique historical find, perfect for collectors of beautiful antique buttons.
