First edition, first printing hardcover copy of The Man who Got Even With God: The Life of an American Trappist by M. Raymond (Bruce Publishing Company, 1941). Religious memoir by Jesuit Father Mary Raymond (born Joseph David Flanagan), which tells of his life as a Trappist monk in Kentucky in the early 20th century. Rare true first edition. Moderate wear to covers, including scuffing, scratches and some faint discoloration. Corners bumped and worn, with some frayed areas. Split binding in several gutters though all pages appear to remain attached. Some soiling to outer edges, but pages are otherwise clean and unmarked though tanned. See photos for condition.
